What this tool analyses

You give it a list of keywords and it classifies each by intent — informational, navigational, commercial or transactional — and tells you which page type fits that intent. This is what decides whether a keyword needs an article, a landing page or a product page.

How to analyse your keywords' intent step by step

The tool needs no access to your site: it works on the keywords you give it.

  1. 1

Paste your keywords, one per line. Enter them exactly as people search them, unnormalised: “buy running shoes” and “best running shoes” are different intents.

  2. 2

Run the analysis. Each keyword returns its intent and the recommended page type.

  3. 3

Group by intent before writing. Keywords sharing an intent usually fit one page; different intents need separate pages even when they share words.

  4. 4

Compare against what you have. If a transactional keyword points at a blog post, there is the mismatch explaining why it does not rank.

Intent is decided by the SERP, not the dictionary. When a result surprises you, search the keyword on Google: what Google returns is the definitive answer.

How to read the classification

Informational: the user wants to learn (what is X, how does Y work, what are the best Z). Ideal content is a blog article, guide or comprehensive tutorial. Commercial investigation: the user is comparing options before deciding (best X tool, alternatives to Y, Z comparison). Ideal content is a comparison, review or listicle. Transactional: the user wants to buy or complete an action (buy X, download Y, sign up for Z). Ideal content is a product page, conversion landing or pricing page. Navigational: the user is looking for a specific site. No ranking opportunity for third parties.

How to use intent to decide which page to build

Intent analysis should be done before writing any piece of content. If intent is informational, create a comprehensive article with H2/H3 structure, FAQs and updated data. If commercial, create an honest comparison with feature table. If transactional, optimize the product page or landing with clear CTAs, social proof and guarantees. Publishing the wrong content type for a given intent is the most common reason content doesn't rank, even when technically well-optimized.
